The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State has suspended at least ten prominent members from the Udu Local Government Area for alleged anti‑party activities. The suspended members have been referred to the party’s disciplinary committee for further investigation. This action was detailed in a statement signed by PDP Ward 9 Chairman Efete Okolosi and Secretary Harvest Waka, following an emergency ward meeting held in the Orhuwhorun community. Copies of the statement were provided to journalists in Warri on Sunday.
According to the statement, all of the suspended members were involved in anti‑party activities, openly supporting Chief Ovie Omo‑Agege, the Deputy Senate President, while simultaneously spreading false and malicious allegations against PDP Ward 9 executives, leaders, and members. Their actions caused serious disaffection within the party. Consequently, Ward 9 passed a vote of no confidence in the individuals and suspended them in accordance with Section 58(II) of the PDP Constitution. The suspension was approved, and the members’ conduct was referred to the PDP Disciplinary Committee for further investigation and recommendation.
The party leadership condemned the ongoing attacks on its leaders from Orhuwhorun Ward 9. It specifically denounced the “unwarranted attack on the member representing Udu Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Chief Peter Uviejitobor, by hoodlums and thugs at legislative quarters, Asaba.” The leadership also criticized the “illegal suspension” of Councillor Oscar Okoro, representing DSIEC Ward 15, and Councillor Queen Riendure, representing DSIEC Ward 16. The PDP called on the leadership of the Udu Legislative Arm to reverse, without further delay, the suspension of the two councillors from the Orhuwhorun community.
