Channels Television presenter Seun Okinbaloye has responded to the N5 million fine imposed on the station by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC). In a veiled reaction on Sunday night, April 2, he concluded his political programme by declaring that “the media will not be silenced as Nigeria belongs to everyone.”

The NBC fined Channels TV after a petition was filed by the campaign spokesperson for President‑elect Bola Tinubu. The petition stemmed from Okinbaloye’s March 22 interview with Labour Party vice‑presidential candidate Datti Baba‑Ahmed. During the interview, Baba‑Ahmed urged the Chief Justice of Nigeria not to swear in Tinubu on May 29, arguing that declaring Tinubu the winner was unconstitutional. The petition accused the Labour Party candidate of making inciting remarks and claimed that Okinbaloye failed to intervene professionally to stop those comments.
