Two suspects held in Niger over alleged murder of policeman

Two suspects, who allegedly murdered a police constable, Nasiru Yusuf, are presently in police net in Niger State.

The two suspects allegedly committed the act in Minima village, Lavun Local Government Area of the state.

DSP Wasiu Abiodun, the PPRO revealed on Sunday that the incident took place when the assailants attacked two police operatives on duty in the area.

According to him, “There was a complaint of assault in the area and two policemen were detailed to the scene at Minima village for an enquiry and possible arrest.”

He added that in the process, the two policemen were attacked by villagers, who inflicted injuries on them, stressing that they were taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Bida, for treatment and one of them, PC Nasiru Yusuf, was later confirmed dead in the hospital, while the other is still receiving treatment.

The PPRO further explained that the two suspects arrested in connection with the unfortunate incident are presently undergoing interrogation, stressing that the incident is under investigation.

Abiodun explained that upon the completion of the investigation, the duo would appear before the court.
