Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment Adeniyi Adebayo said on Friday that the Supreme Court’s validation of Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s election will allow the governor to focus on fulfilling the aspirations of the Ekiti people. The apex court, on Thursday, confirmed Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress as the winner of the June 18, 2022 governorship election, thereby dismissing the challenge filed by Social Democratic Party candidate Chief Segun Oni.
In a statement released by his Special Assistant on Media, Ifedayo Sayo, Adebayo noted, “With the petition dismissed by the court, it now paves the way for the governor to concentrate on implementing his electioneering promises made to the good people of the state.” He praised Oyebanji’s efforts to unite the populace through commendable programmes and ongoing urban‑renewal projects, adding that the governor would continue to meet the expectations of Ekiti’s citizens.
Adebayo called on the people of Ekiti to rally behind the governor so he can deliver the dividends of democracy and steer the state toward sustainable progress. He concluded by saying, “The judgment has laid to rest all misguided rumours and innuendos by the opposition parties, particularly the SDP and its candidate, Oni, disputing the outcome of the election.”
