Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun used the occasion of Easter to call on Christians in the state to embody the teachings, virtues and message of love taught by Jesus Christ. In an Easter message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin, and released on Friday, the governor urged believers to reflect on the resurrection of Jesus as a sign of God’s love and a gift to humanity, and to continue spreading love and promoting unity.
Abiodun noted that God manifested His power through Christ’s resurrection, which he said symbolizes hope for better times after trials and tribulation. While acknowledging that Easter is a time to celebrate Jesus’ rise, he emphasized that the period should also be used to pray for God’s mercy on the nation as a whole and on Ogun State in particular. He called for sober reflection on Jesus’ death on Mount Calvary, His genuine love, and His intercession for mankind, urging Christians to make Easter special by showing love and compassion toward neighbours, communities, the state and the country.
The governor added that just as Jesus conquered death and rose after three days in the tomb, God would help Nigeria overcome its current challenges. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to good governance, socioeconomic progress and infrastructural development, and pledged to continue discharging his duties guided by justice, equity and fairness. Congratulating Christians on witnessing another Easter, Abiodun encouraged them to celebrate with the less‑privileged, demonstrating love in the manner exemplified by Jesus.
