NNPCL has deepened investments in AKK, other gas utilisation projects – Kyari

The Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited said it is strengthening investments in the Ajaokuta-Abuja-Kano (AKK) gas pipeline and OB3 gas interconnector to support five billion standard cubic feet per day domestic gas utilisation.

Malam Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive of NNPC Ltd, disclosed this on Monday at the Nigeria International Energy Summit (NIES 2023) opening in Abuja.

Regarding the theme, “Global Perspectives for a Sustainable Energy Future”, Kyari outlined efforts to impact the country’s oil and gas industry.

Mr Mohammed Ahmed, Executive Vice President of Gas, Power and New Energy of the Company, represented him (Kyari).

He said the NNPCL would continue supporting the Federal Government toward realising key initiatives such as the Decade of Gas and the National Gas Expansion Programme (NGEP).

“Oil and gas remains a significant component of the global energy mix; therefore, we are unlocking more opportunities across both the oil and gas value chain spanning from supply and infrastructure to the markets,” he said.

Stakeholders across the board in the country are congregating at the summit to champion workable solutions facing Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
