OYSIEC fixes Oyo LG polls for April 2024

The Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) has announced its readiness to conduct another local government election in the state next year.

OYSIEC made this disclosure via a statement signed by its Chairman, Aare Islakia Abiola Olagunju.

Media Talk Africa recalls that the last local government election was conducted in the state in May 2021.

The commission said that another election will be held on 27th April, 2024.

Olagunju said that the commission was conducting the election in compliance with section 28 of Electoral Act 2022 (as amended), Section 5 (a) and Paragraph (1) Schedule 2.

He urged prospective candidates to obtain nomination forms at the commission’s office.

The commission added that the nomination forms are to be obtained on or before Monday 28 August, 2023.
