NPFL: Super Six playoffs, big attraction for clubs – Akwa United coach Ayeni

Akwa United head coach, Ayodeji Ayeni, believed that the Nigeria Professional Football League Super Six playoff is a big avenue for teams to showcase themselves.

The top three teams from each of the two groups of the abridged NPFL league will qualify to play in the Super Six playoffs.

The top two teams will earn places in the CAF Champions League, while the third-place side will campaign in the CAF Confederation Cup.

The play-off is billed to take place at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos, starting May 19.

Ayeni, who stated that he was looking forward to the playoff, said: “The players know the importance of this Super Six. It’s going to be a centre of attraction for everybody to see, and it’s going to be an open door for players, coaches, and their team as a whole.

“For all these reasons, we cannot afford to miss out on this chance.”

Akwa United will be hoping for a win when they host El-Kanemi Warriors today at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium to maintain their push for the Super Six playoff.
