Firms partner on fight against malaria

Mortein Insecticide manufactured by Reckitt Nigeria has signed a partnership agreement with Spar Stores to combat the spread of the malaria scourge in the country.

The partnership, which was signed in commemoration of the 2023 World Malaria Day, aims to raise awareness of the importance of preventive measures against malaria.

Speaking on the partnership, the  Head, External Communications and Partnership, Reckitt Sub-Saharan Africa, Cassandra Uzo-Ogbugh, said Mortein will engage shoppers at Spar Stores around the country with flyers and instore communication materials containing information on preventive measures against malaria.

A statement quoted her as saying, “At Reckitt, our purpose drives our brands, and Mortein is driven by its purpose to protect families from pest-borne diseases like malaria. This partnership with Spar Nigeria is part of our efforts to educate about malaria preventive measures such as the use of insecticides and proper sanitation to eradicate mosquitoes which are the carriers of the disease.”

Speaking on behalf of Spar Stores, Operations Manager, Spar, Danish Khan, said, “We are pleased with the efforts Mortein is taking by educating the public about malaria prevention to ensure malaria is kicked out. We are also happy to have this campaign in our other stores so that the message will reach more people because Spar cares about its shoppers and Nigerians and this is a good initiative we would like to encourage.

Mortein has also partnered with the Federal Ministry of Health, the Lagos State Ministry of Health and other state health agencies to educate the public on malaria prevention.
