Hungary’s Orban insists Ukraine needs NATO troops for victory

During the Qatar Economic Forum on Tuesday, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that Ukraine has no hope of winning its conflict without direct NATO troop involvement, and as such, all parties need to advocate for peace talks. Orban stated that “looking at the reality, looking at the figures, looking at the surroundings, looking at the fact that NATO is not ready to send troops…it is obvious that there is no victory for the poor Ukrainians on the battlefields”. He further added that there should be a strong focus on de-escalating the situation and “arguing in favour of peace and negotiations”.
