Ifon Orolu Community Appeals to Osun State Governor for a Commissioner Appointment

The residents of Ifon Orolu Community in Osun State have made a request to the state governor, Ademola Adeleke, to appoint an indigene of the town as a commissioner in the cabinet. The town’s flagship group, Ifon Orolu Progressive Union, penned a letter to the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Teslim Igbalaye, which expressed that the town has numerous qualified professionals who can contribute to the state’s progress through their expertise.

The group mentioned that the last Orolu indigene to hold a cabinet position was twelve years ago. Thus, they have appealed to Adeleke, who is the highest political leader from their Federal Constituency, to grant them a commissioner position. They believe that Orolu Local Government’s representation can fit the position in any portfolio.

Jide Akinyooye, the Secretary of Ifon Orolu Progressive Union’s Board of Trustees, signed the letter. According to Punch, the group stated, “Please understand that Orolu has many credible, experienced and committed people that have contributed to the Peoples Democratic Party electoral victory and her legal representation can fit as a utility candidate for any portfolio. We will ever appreciate your commitment, interest and contribution towards actualizing this noble request for Commissioner slot and deserved recognition; especially that we have been denied for the past 12 years.”

The Orolu community hopes that their request for a commissioner position will rekindle the opportunities for those who have the ability to serve the state.
