Abia Governor’s Spokesman Commends Journalists at Valedictory Session

The Chief Press Secretary to Abia State Governor, Mr Onyebuchi Ememanka, has expressed his appreciation to the Government House Press Corps, for their support and cooperation throughout the four years he spent as the Governor’s spokesman.

Ememanka spoke at a valedictory session held on Friday, just days before the end of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s eight-year administration in Abia state and the May 29, 2023 inauguration of a new democratically-elected government led by Dr Alex Otti.

He acknowledged the role of the press corps in his success as the longest serving CPS in the history of Abia state. According to him, “…no Chief Press Secretary to a state governor can succeed without the press corps.”

Ememanka emphasized the importance of cooperation and the need to continue working together for the good of the state, urging journalists to extend the same level of support to his successor.

He commended the dedication and enduring spirit of journalists, who sometimes work at the oddest hours and without time limits.

The spokesman’s valedictory session was a display of his character and style, as he recounted his personal tradition of thanking colleagues with whom he has worked, stating that “It’s a small world.”

He concluded his address by saying, “I have done my bit. Let history and posterity be the judge.”

In the end, Ememanka’s commendation of the Abia journalists further highlights the crucial role played by the media in shaping public narratives, and the importance of fostering a cooperative relationship between journalists and government officials.
