Omokri Applauds Buhari Government for Introducing Nigeria Air

Renowned socio-political commentator, Reno Omokri, has commended the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government over the much-awaited Nigeria Air.

Despite being a vehement critic of the Buhari administration, Omokri praised the government while dismissing the criticisms levelled against it by Nigerians over Nigeria Air.

Many Nigerians accused the Federal Government of fraudulent activities following the unveiling of Nigeria Air’s aircraft, which was said to be owned by Ethiopian Airlines.

However, Buhari’s Special Assistant on Digital Communications, Bashir Ahmad, revealed that Ethiopian Airlines was a significant shareholder in Nigeria Air.

Contrary to the criticism that greeted the government’s decision to partner with Ethiopian Airlines on Nigeria Air, Omokri, on his verified Twitter handle, pointed out that Emirate Airlines, which many Nigerians love to fly with, started in 1985 with two airlines given to them by Pakistan International Airlines, and they are currently thriving.

Omokri said, “If there is anything to criticise, please criticise constructively. But do not just criticise because your political party is not in power. Ruga was a bad idea. Arresting Nnamdi Kanu was a wrong move. The Northernisation of our National Security Council was a horrible thing to do. And we criticised all of those.

“But Nigeria Air is a good idea. Even starting with a leased aircraft is a better idea than starting with a new one. If the government does badly, let us vehemently criticise them. But if they perform well, we should objectively applaud them.”
