Relationship with Kwankwaso is cordial, but we disagree on some issues – Shekarau

Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, representing Kano Central, has stated that he maintains a friendly and cordial relationship with Rabiu Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

Shekarau reaffirmed that he and Kwankwaso are best friends, despite recent political differences between them.

The former governor of Kano State had fallen out with Kwankwaso ahead of the 2023 general elections.

In May, Shekarau resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to join Kwankwaso’s NNPP but later left the party.

Despite these developments, Shekarau denied any rift between him and Kwankwaso, stating that they have just disagreed on certain political issues.

During an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme, Shekarau explained that although they are good friends, they differ on various political topics.

“We are very good friends. When he is here talking, you may think we normally disagree. We disagree on a number of political issues, but that does not mean we are enemies or fighting. We remain the best of friends,” Shekarau said.
