Residents in Bauchi, Benue, Plateau, and Gombe States have experienced load shedding recently, as a result of a drop in the national grid, according to the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JED).
JED’s Head of Corporate Communications, Dr. Friday Adakole Elijah, revealed the reasons behind the load shedding during a press conference held in Jos, the capital city of Plateau State.
“You may have observed load shedding in the last few days. This was due to the low power supply allocation from the national grid,” stated Dr. Elijah.
JED, responsible for distributing electricity in the four franchise states, informed the public that their daily allocation had significantly decreased to a range of 75 to 78 megawatts.
This drastic drop has compelled JED to implement load shedding in an equitable manner across all areas of their operations, until there is an improvement in power supply from the national grid.
“We urge you not to despair as we hope to restore full power supply as soon as the situation is normalized,” Dr. Elijah assured the affected residents.
