Fuel subsidy: Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed Urges Patience with FG

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, has called on Nigerians to exercise patience following the withdrawal of subsidy on Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), popularly known as petrol, by the President Bola Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress (APC) government.

In an effort to alleviate concerns, the Governor expressed optimism that the situation in the country will improve in due time.

Governor Mohammed, who represents the North-East subregion in the Committee headed by Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasiru Idris, on palliative distribution, made this appeal in Bauchi on Saturday.

He emphasized that understanding and cooperation from all Nigerians are crucial at this critical period.

The Governor also reassured that the members of the committee, set up by the National Economic Council (NEC), are fully committed to recommending fair modalities for the distribution of palliatives to all sectors affected by the subsidy removal, irrespective of political party differences.

According to him, “Both opposition and ruling governors understand that the move by the federal government is a step in the right direction and have assured that the process will not be politicized.”

The Bauchi State Governor further explained that the committee’s recommendations will include increasing workers’ salaries and procuring a large number of shuttle buses.

He stated that the Committee’s report will be presented to the NEC within two weeks for further deliberations and subsequent ratification.
