EPL: Gundogan bids farewell to Guardiola as he departs Man City for Barcelona

In a heartfelt message to Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, Ilkay Gundogan has expressed his gratitude after leaving the club to join Barcelona.

Both clubs confirmed the 32-year-old midfielder’s departure on Monday morning, marking the end of his seven-year tenure at the Etihad.

During his final season with City, Gundogan achieved the remarkable feat of winning the Treble under the guidance of Guardiola. In light of this, the German midfielder took the opportunity to convey his appreciation for his former coach.

“It has been an absolute privilege and pleasure to be a part of Manchester City for the past seven years. I would like to express my gratitude to Pep,” Gundogan stated.

He continued, “Having had the opportunity to play under his guidance and learn from him for such an extended period of time is an experience I will forever cherish.”

Gundogan also expressed gratitude towards his teammates, past and present, for their significant contributions in making his time at Manchester City so extraordinary. Additionally, he extended his appreciation to the loyal City fans, acknowledging their unwavering support throughout his journey.

“To all my teammates – past and present – who have played a unique role in making my stay here absolutely incredible, I sincerely thank you. I am indebted to the amazing City fans who have shown unwavering support. I will forever carry the spirit of City in my heart. Once a blue, always a blue,” Gundogan concluded.
