Chieftain Calls for Sacking of INEC Chair, Alleging Election Manipulation

A prominent member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Mr. Buba Galadima, has urged President Bola Tinubu to immediately dismiss the National Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mr. Mahmood Yakubu. Galadima alleges that Yakubu conspired with certain politicians to undermine the will of Nigerians during the previous presidential election.

During an interview with Channels Television on Tuesday, Galadima expressed his belief that Yakubu’s actions were even more grievous than those of former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, which led to Emefiele’s dismissal. Galadima emphasized that the INEC boss committed more crimes than Emefiele.

“The INEC chairman must go. What he did is far worse than what Godwin Emefiele did,” Galadima asserted. “He colluded with certain individuals to distort the will of Nigerians. This is the gravest offense anyone can commit.”

Yakubu has been accused of compromising the integrity of the upcoming 2023 presidential election. Various political stakeholders have alleged that the INEC chairman is manipulating the electoral process to favor President Bola Tinubu.
