Cooking gas price drops by 6.71% to N4000 for 5kg cylinder – NBS

The average price for a 5kg cylinder of Liquefied Petroleum Gas, known as cooking gas, decreased by 6.71 per cent in June to N4,068.26 from N4,369.69 recorded in May.

NBS disclosed this on Tuesday in its June Liquified Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) Price Watch.

Accordingly, the figure represents a 3.56 per cent yearly decrease compared to June last year, when it stood at N4,218.38.

At a state-level analysis, Kwara recorded the highest price for a 5kg cylinder of Liquefied Petroleum Gas, which stood at N4,500, while Ondo recorded the lowest with a price of N3,287.86.

“The average retail price for refilling a 5kg Cylinder of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) decreased by 6.71% on a month-on-month basis from N4,360.69 recorded in May 2023 to N4,068.26 in June 2023,” the report stated.

The development comes amid a hike in fuel pump price to N617 per litre after subsidy removal.
