House of Reps goes on recess, adjourns until September

The House of Representatives has commenced its annual recess as it adjourned plenary until September.

The recess was announced by Speaker Tajudeen Abbas on Thursday after constituting the House Standing Committees.

Mr Abbas constituted 134 committees for the 10th House.

The former Leader of the House, Ado Doguwa, who stepped down for Abbas, got the Committee on Petroleum (Upstream), while the former Deputy Speaker, Ahmed Idris Wase, is the chairman of the Federal Character Committee.

The Committee on Defence has once again been given to Babajimi Benson, while James Faleke also retained his position as chairman of the Finance Committee.
