‘You must deliver your polling unit’ – Cross River Speaker tells commissioner-nominees

Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Elvert Ayambem, has disclosed that one of the major reasons they looked out for in the screened nominees for commissioners was their ability to deliver their polling units.

Ayambem spoke when he addressed the commissioners designate before the screening processes began.

He told them that the screening would be rigorous and urged them to be steadfast during the process.

Ayanbem said the nominees were expected to demonstrate consistency, impartiality, and a proven ability to deliver results from their polling units in the recent elections.

“Any nominee failing to meet these standards could be at risk of being disqualified from their roles.

“The screening process is crucial for ensuring that the governor’s vision for the state is supported by a capable and effective team of commissioners.”

The Speaker explained further that the involvement of the committee on judiciary/petition and Conflict resolution ensures that the nominees possess the requisite qualities and competence to serve the people effectively.

He assured that none of the commissioners-designate would be left unscrutinized.

He made it clear that the Chairman of the Committee on Judiciary/Petition and Conflict Resolution, Rt. Hon Dr Davies Etta, member representing Abi State Constituency, has been mandated to be strict.
