Mohbad: Oba Elegushi disowns Sam Larry

The Elegushi Royal Family of the Ikate-Elegushi Kingdom, Lagos State, has dissociated itself from socialite, Samson Balogun, aka Sam Larry.

The royal family, in a statement released on Thursday, September 14, 2023, disowned the show promoter.

It clarified that Sam Larry only comes to pay homage to the king and seek royal blessings, just like every member of the public.

The royal family while extending condolences to the family of late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Olademeji Aloba, aka Mohbad, called for a thorough investigation into the death of the 27-year-old.

The statement read, inter alia: “Samson Balogun [Sam Larry] is not a member of the royal family and don’t work for the royal family or the king in any capacity. Like other celebrities, politicians, religious and community leaders, he visits the palace to pay homage to the king and seek royal blessings, just like other members of the public.

“While expressing our condolences to the family and friends of late Ilerioluwa Aloba (known as MohBad), we would like to add our voices to the calls for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death to unravel any foul play.”

Media Talk Africa reports that Sam Larry, an associate of Mohbad’s erstwhile record label boss, Naira Marley, came under heavy fire on social media after a video of him and his men disrupting Mohbad’s video shoot with Zlatan Ibile surfaced online.

Mohbad died on Tuesday, September 10, 2023, barely a year after his messy split from the Naira Marley-owned Marlian Music record label.
