I’ll construct 1,500km road in four years – Gov Bago

Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has disclosed that his administration will undertake 1,500 kilometres of road rehabilitation and construction in the next four years.

The governor made this disclosure at the groundbreaking for the rehabilitation and construction of 202 kilometres of Minna Township roads.

According to him, road projects are part of his aggressive urban renewal policy that would bring significant transformation to the state.IMG 20230914 WA0010

He noted that a good number of federal roads are spread across the state, and his administration will not hesitate to fix them as talks are on with the Presidency for a refund of money that will be injected into the federal road projects.

He also tasked youths in the state to take advantage of the road projects to gainfully engage themselves as materials and human capital will be sourced locally.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Suleiman Umar, said the length of the road project is 202.4 km, consisting of 22 different roads categorised in two phases, with phase one covering eight roads and phase two covering 14 roads.

Umar explained: “This is in addition to five interchanges and flyovers at strategic locations and new roads as a pass that will open up the state capital.”

The Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Abdulmalik Muhammed, commended the governor for his unwavering determination to bring about the needed transformation in the state and promised the continuous operation and support of legislators for the benefit of all in the state.

The Managing Director of China Civil Engineering Corporation (CCECC), Mr David Wang, pledged to partner with the relevant stakeholders and ensure harmonious relationships with the locals for timely and qualitative projects.
