Edo State Governor, Obaseki, Clarifies Stance on Deputy, Philip Shaibu

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has addressed the ongoing dispute with his deputy, Philip Shaibu, clarifying that he holds no personal grudges against him.

Speaking to journalists on Friday, Governor Obaseki explained that his issues with Deputy Governor Shaibu were straightforward and not personal.

“I have nothing personal against the Deputy Governor and never had. For me, the issues are very straightforward,” Governor Obaseki stated.

The governor and his deputy have been embroiled in a disagreement over the governor’s successor, causing tension between them.

However, amidst the conflict, Deputy Governor Shaibu publicly apologized to Governor Obaseki to mend the fractured relationship.

Governor Obaseki acknowledged and accepted Shaibu’s public apology, noting that his deputy’s actions had caused him personal discomfort.
