Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has drawn comparisons between Reds midfielder Ryan Gravenberch and Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira.
Vieira, regarded as one of the Premier League’s finest defensive midfielders, amassed an impressive 401 appearances for Arsenal. During his time with the club, he scored 32 goals and provided 45 assists across all competitions.
In a recent Europa League match against Union Saint-Gilloise, Gravenberch, who joined Liverpool from Bayern Munich for €40 million this summer, netted his debut goal for the Reds in a 2-0 victory.
Highlighting the similarities between the 21-year-old Netherlands international and Vieira, Carragher stated:
“When you look at him, you can tell he’s a footballer; he carries himself with an imposing presence. He reminds me a bit of Patrick Vieira with the way he effortlessly glides past opponents with the ball. The potential is definitely there.”
