The 1 Division Nigerian Army has reported that its troops have executed a daring rescue operation, liberating six kidnapped victims while eliminating one bandit in Kaduna State. This commendable achievement comes as a result of the ongoing clearance operation carried out by the division.
In a statement issued in Kaduna, the acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for the 1 Division Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Colonel Musa Yahaya, confirmed the successful rescue mission. He further stated that the operation took place on Friday and was based on credible and timely intelligence.
The rescue operation unfolded in the Hayin Tsando general area of Maraban Jos, situated within the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State. Upon receiving the information, the gallant troops swiftly mobilized and commenced an intensive search and rescue operation. Consequently, they encountered the bandits and engaged them in a fierce firefight.
Thanks to the valor and determination displayed by the troops, six kidnapped victims were successfully rescued from the clutches of their captors. In addition, the troops seized two AK 47 rifles, while one of the bandits was neutralized during the exchange of gunfire. The remaining criminals managed to escape, albeit with various degrees of gunshot wounds.
Maj. Gen. Valentine Okoro, the General Officer Commanding the 1 Division Nigerian Army and Force Commander of Operation Whirl Punch, lauded the troops for their unwavering resilience in the face of danger. He expressed his admiration for their bravery and urged them to sustain their aggressive offensive against all criminal elements within the division’s area of responsibility until complete eradication is achieved.
Lt. Col. Musa Yahaya also called upon all paramedics to be vigilant, keeping an eye out for individuals with gunshot wounds and promptly reporting such cases to the Nigerian Army and other sister security services. This proactive measure ensures that necessary actions can be taken swiftly.
