Abducted wives of Jigawa LG chairman regain freedom

The two wives of the Kiyawa Local Government Council chairman in Jigawa State, kidnapped by unknown gunmen, have regained their freedom.

Police spokesman DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam confirmed their release in a statement on Tuesday night.

Media Talk Africa reported that gunmen in large numbers swooped on their home and kidnapped the two women on Friday night.

According to the statement, โ€œThe two wives of Kiyawa LG chairman have been released by their abductors at Ningi LGA of Bauchi State.โ€

The statement affirmed they have since been reunited with their family but was, however, silent on whether the police rescued the victims or whether ransom was given to the hoodlums to secure their freedom.

A family source confirmed to Media Talk Africa that ransom was indeed paid before their release.
