Transfer: Romano confirms Man Utd midfielder will leave club in January

Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek is likely to leave Old Trafford in the upcoming January transfer window.

This claim was made by football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Speaking on the YouTube channel The United Stand, Romano claimed that the Dutch star will secure a permanent transfer away from Manchester United in a bid to get regular playing time elsewhere.

Romano said: “Donny will leave in January for sure. He has to and he wants to because he wants to play.

“It’s a shame because Donny wanted to play for United; he loved this opportunity, but at the same time, he is never playing.

“He also knows after the injury he needs regular football. He can’t stay on the bench for a long time.”

Van de Beek has been frozen out of Man United’s first-team plans since recovering from his long-term knee problem.

The 26-year-old has made just two appearances for Erik ten Hag’s side this season.

He joined the Red Devils from Ajax for an initial fee of £34 million in 2020.
