2026 WCQ: Insurance goalie Obasogie replaces Okoye in Super Eagles’ squad

Bendel Insurance goalkeeper Amas Obasogie has been handed a late invitation for Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.

Obasogie will replace Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye, one of the invited 23 players, who pulled out on Monday.

Obasogie is expected to storm the Super Eagles camp on Tuesday.

It’s the first time he has been invited to the national team.

The shot-stopper played a crucial role in Bendel Insurance’s Federation Cup success last season.

He is currently rated as one of the best goalkeepers in the Nigerian Premier Football League.
