Ghana’s Liberal Party to Uphold Kofi Akpaloo as Flagbearer for 2024 Elections

As Ghana gears up for the 2024 General Election, the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) has confirmed Percival Kofi Akpaloo, the party’s founder, as its flagbearer. In an exclusive interview with the Ghana News Agency, Mr. Jerry Owusu Appauh, the General Secretary of LPG, announced the decision to retain Akpaloo for the upcoming polls, stating that no other party member has expressed interest in challenging his candidacy.

The party is set to hold a congress in April to officially endorse Akpaloo as its flagbearer, solidifying his leadership role within the LPG. In addition to this pivotal decision, the LPG is currently in the process of electing regional and electoral area officers who will undergo training to mobilize support and secure votes for the party during the elections.

In a bold declaration, Mr. Appauh urged Ghanaians to shift away from the traditional political landscape dominated by the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and other minority parties, and instead, entrust the LPG with the governance of the country. Emphasizing the LPG’s status as the sole liberal party in Ghana, he appealed to the populace to consider a fresh perspective, asserting that both the NPP and NDC have failed to effect meaningful change in the nation.

“We are the only liberal party in Ghana, and we know what the two parties have done so far, so we are just appealing to Ghana to give us the opportunity as liberals to turn things around for the country,” stated Mr. Appauh, underscoring the party’s commitment to promoting liberalism and its potential to catalyze positive transformation within Ghana.

Furthermore, the LPG revealed its ambitious policy initiatives, including the “Child Benefit” program, aimed at providing monthly stipends to families and mothers with children to alleviate financial burdens. Additionally, the party pledged to implement an “Unemployment Benefit” policy to support unemployed youth with monthly stipends, addressing their fundamental needs.

As the 2024 elections approach, the LPG’s unwavering endorsement of Kofi Akpaloo and its progressive policy proposals signal a compelling narrative in Ghanaian politics, ushering in the potential for a paradigm shift and a new era of governance.
