Gov’s wife seeks more women participation in politics

The wife of the Governor of Lagos State, Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has highlighted the need for more women to participate in electioneering and the political process of the state.

Sanwo-Olu made the call, according to a statement on Wednesday, during a meeting with female candidates of the All Progressives Congress and female professionals at the Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja.

She said, “Lagos has always set the right example for the equitable participation of women in politics and governance. Today, we have women in strategic positions in the state executive council, ministries, commissions, departments, and agencies of government.

“More female professionals in diverse fields of human endeavour are encouraged to participate in the electioneering and political process and it is in our collective interest for all stakeholders to get involved.

“It is also important for women to uplift other women, especially the women that dare to put themselves forward for elective offices. For us, our candidates remain Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for the presidential election to engender a renewed hope for Nigeria; Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to foster a greater Lagos rising; and indeed all APC candidates to deepen and fast-track development in our state and country.”
