Cote d’Ivoire to Host WAFU-B Women’s Championship for CAF Women’s Champions League Qualification

Cote d’Ivoire has been designated as the host nation for the upcoming West Africa Zone (WAFU-B) Women’s Championship, which will also serve as the qualifying tournament for the CAF Women’s Champions League.

Scheduled to take place from August 10th to 23rd, 2024, the competition will feature teams from seven nations within the zone, including Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Niger Republic, Nigeria, and Togo.

The stakes are high as these teams vie for the single ticket available from the zone to advance to the prestigious CAF Women’s Champions League. Each participating team will bring their best to the pitch, aiming to secure victory and earn the coveted qualification spot.

Representing Nigeria at the tournament will be Edo Queens, champions of the Nigeria Women Football League. Their triumph last month marked a historic moment for the club, clinching the league title for the first time under the leadership of Moses Aduku.

The spotlight will be on the players and coaches as they prepare to showcase their skills and tactical prowess on the field. With fierce competition expected, football enthusiasts across the region can anticipate thrilling matches and unforgettable moments as these teams battle for glory.

In the previous edition, Ghanaian club Ampem Darkoa emerged victorious from the zone, securing the qualification spot for the CAF Women’s Champions League by defeating Delta Queens in the final. As the upcoming tournament unfolds in Cote d’Ivoire, football fans eagerly await to see which team will rise to the occasion and claim victory, earning the opportunity to compete on the continental stage.
