The Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos Free Zone, Dinesh Rathi, said that the newly commissioned Lekki Deep Seaport will boost Nigeria’s economy by increasing trade volume and attracting more foreign direct investment. Speaking recently in Lagos, Rathi highlighted that the integration of the Lekki Deep Seaport with the Lagos Free Zone creates an ideal investment destination, thanks to the high‑quality infrastructure available within the zone. He noted that the port will give investors at the LFZ unparalleled competitive advantages in terms of ease of doing business and trade efficiency.

Rathi congratulated the project’s shareholders, partners, and contractors for their concerted effort in bringing the project to fruition. He expressed confidence that the combination of the port and the Lagos Free Zone will play a major role in raising the country’s Gross Domestic Product and creating employment opportunities for Nigerians. “The commissioning of the Lekki Deep Seaport by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), marks a significant milestone for the government and the people of Nigeria, as this project will greatly impact economic growth and development,” he said. “Lekki Port and LFZ will evolve together, creating an ecosystem that is the first of its kind in Nigeria. We express our sincere appreciation to the Federal Government, Lagos State Government, and all relevant agencies and parastatals—especially our regulator, the Nigerian Export Processing Zones Authority—for their support throughout this journey.”
