The Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship candidate for Taraba State, Lt. Col. Agbu Kefas (retd), pledged on Sunday to address insecurity and unite the people if elected in the upcoming general elections. In an interview with journalists in Jalingo, Kefas said he would draw on his military experience to protect lives and property, emphasizing that “the unity of our dear state is important.” He promised to make education free and compulsory from primary through secondary school, to focus on health, and to expand other sectors to promote development, especially in rural areas. Highlighting Taraba’s agricultural potential, he added that the party’s plan is robust and will be implemented step by step, with collective effort to achieve the state’s goals.
Kefas also praised the Supreme Court’s recent decision, commending the judiciary for upholding the truth. He lauded the PDP for conducting a transparent primary election that produced his candidacy and for adhering to established procedures. He called on the losing contestants and those who had taken him to court to return, join forces with him, and work together to win the election and move the state forward.
Earlier, Governor Darius Ishaku, represented by Deputy Haruna Manu, urged Taraba residents to vote overwhelmingly for the PDP, stressing that a decisive victory would prevent the opposition from challenging the results in court.
