#NigeriaElections2023: Senate spokesperson loses reelection

The Senate spokesperson, Senator Ajibola Basiru, running on the platform of the All Progressives Congress lost his reelection bid, as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Olubiyi Fadeyi, was declared winner of the election.

Fadeyi was returned elected, having polled 134,229, while Basiru garnered  117,609 votes.

The results as announced by Prof Ibraheem Usman, the collation officer for Osun Central Senatorial District in Osogbo on Sunday, also indicated that the Labour Party candidate, Oyebode Babalola, got 2,292.

Also for Osogbo Federal Constituency, PDP’s Monruf Adewale with  71,677 votes was returned elected, defeating Abosede Kasumu of the APC, who got 58,992 votes.
