Senator Ahmed Makarfi, a former Governor of Kaduna State, has successfully secured his local government for Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the recent presidential election held on Saturday. In Makarfi Local Government Area, Atiku received 22,098 votes, surpassing Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who garnered 13,767 votes. Meanwhile, Peter Obi of the Labour Party received 759 votes.

The electoral officer for Makarfi LGA, Prof. Maryam Aminu, announced the results at the INEC Headquarters along Kinshasha Road in Kaduna on Monday. She reported that there were 118,150 registered voters in the council, with 43,888 voters accredited for the polls. Of the total votes cast, 42,046 were valid, while 824 votes were rejected out of the 42,870 total.

Makarfi, who previously served as the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the PDP, is a two-term senator who represented the Northern Senatorial District of Kaduna State in the National Assembly. The detailed results from the election are as follows: APC – 13,767 votes, PDP – 22,098 votes, LP – 759 votes, with 118,150 registered voters, 43,888 accredited voters, 42,046 valid votes, 824 rejected votes, and a total of 42,870 votes cast.
