Obi Aguocha, the Labour Party candidate who won the Kwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency seat, has dedicated his victory in the recent elections to God. In a statement to the press on Monday, Aguocha expressed gratitude for the support of the people, emphasizing their collective desire to establish a new order.
Aguocha secured his win by defeating the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji, of the Peoples Democratic Party, with a margin of over 13,000 votes. According to the Returning Officer, Prof. Uma Kalu Oke, Aguocha received a total of 48,199 votes, while Orji garnered 35,196 votes. Notably, Orji is the son of Theodore Ahamefule Orji, a former governor of Abia State and current senator representing Abia Central, who did not seek re-election after serving eight years in the Senate.
In his victory speech, Aguocha extended an invitation to all stakeholders to join him in fostering development within the constituency. Meanwhile, attempts to contact Rt. Hon. Orji for a comment were unsuccessful.
