The Federal Capital Territory Police Command is currently investigating a video circulating on social media that claims its operatives arrested individuals suspected of manipulating the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System in Abuja on Tuesday. Reports indicate that the video, which has been trending online, alleges that police apprehended suspects at a residential building located at No. 15, Ganges Street, Maitama, FCT. According to the video’s caption, the arrests were made following a tip-off from unidentified sources, suggesting that the location was being used as a base for manipulating the recent elections held on Saturday.

The video further claims that the police recovered numerous BVAS machines, several laptops, desktop computers, and other materials from the suspects. However, SP Josephine Adeh, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, stated in a telephone interview on Tuesday night that the Command is working to verify the authenticity of the video. She expressed concern over media platforms publishing the story without confirming its accuracy with the police.

Adeh noted, “We can’t ascertain the identity of those seen in the video, and they do not look like our officers because our officers have been operating in camouflage uniforms since the elections began. Anyone could have been in that video.” She assured the public that the investigation is ongoing and that the police will provide updates on their findings in due course.
