The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed Senator Aminu Tambuwal’s claim that a nationwide consensus is emerging to block President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from seeking re‑election in 2027. In a televised interview, the former Sokoto governor argued that the effort to unseat Tinubu was a collective national movement, not a northern agenda.
Lagos APC spokesperson Seye Oladejo called the senator’s remarks “misleading and unfounded.” He stressed that the prevailing sentiment across the country supports good governance and the continuation of the administration’s reforms. Oladejo reminded listeners that President Tinubu was democratically elected in 2023 by Nigerians from every region and background, thereby refuting opposition accusations of an imposed presidency.
Oladejo also urged Tambuwal to concentrate on his own record, citing “recent revelations” that have placed the senator under scrutiny by anti‑graft agencies. He criticized the opposition’s attempts to forge alliances ahead of the 2027 elections, describing them as fragile and unsustainable.
Highlighting the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, Oladejo noted tangible progress in critical sectors such as road construction, job creation, and economic reforms. While the opposition continues its media criticism, the government is working to address power challenges and lay the groundwork for a stronger, more prosperous Nigeria.
The Lagos APC’s rejection of Tambuwal’s claims underscores the ongoing political dynamics as the ruling party seeks to consolidate its position before the 2027 elections. The outcome of those elections will be closely watched, as it will shape the country’s development and governance trajectory. For now, the APC remains confident in its ability to deliver on its campaign promises and secure another term in office.
