Katsina State Scholarship Board has announced the approval of over N372 million in bursary allowances for 24,452 continuing students by Governor Dikko Radda. The Executive Secretary of the board, Dr Aminu Salisu-Tsauri, made this known in a statement issued in Katsina. According to him, the approval underscores the Governor’s commitment to human capital development and his belief that education is crucial for peace, prosperity, and sustainable development.

Since the inception of the current administration, the government has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to students’ welfare through bursary disbursements. In the past, the government has disbursed over N637.9 million to 47,935 students and N544.2 million to 37,802 students. More recently, the administration has disbursed over N744.1 million to 50,438 students.

The scholarship board has also announced plans to grant approvals for the 2024/2025 local scholarships for 12,609 fresh students, as well as awards for academic excellence and special scholarships for students with special needs. These categories will be officially unveiled during the forthcoming inauguration ceremony. With these interventions, the total number of beneficiaries now stands at 174,461 students.

The scholarship board is making arrangements to ensure the timely disbursement of the newly approved bursary funds. Governor Radda’s administration has also sponsored students to study abroad in specialized fields, lifting the state’s profile on the global stage. The government’s commitment to education is evident in its consistent support for students’ welfare, and the latest approval is expected to have a positive impact on the state’s educational sector.
