World Cup Qualifying Africa Teams Advance

African teams secured their spots in the World Cup as qualifying matches concluded. Senegal, South Africa, and Ivory Coast emerged victorious, solidifying their positions in the tournament.

Senegal topped Group B with a convincing 4–0 win over Mauritania in Dakar. Sadio Mané scored two goals, including a first-half stoppage-time free kick, while Iliman Ndiaye’s solo run and Habib Diallo’s strike sealed the victory. This win ensured the Lions of Teranga finished at the top of their group and will participate in the World Cup.

In Nelspruit, South Africa defeated Rwanda 3–0, overcoming a three-point penalty to advance. Goals from Mbatha, Appollis, and Makgopa secured the win, with Nigeria’s victory elsewhere also aiding their cause. This marks South Africa’s return to the World Cup for the first time since 2010.

Ivory Coast also showcased their skills, defeating Kenya 3–0 in Abidjan. Frank Kessie opened the scoring, followed by Yan Diomande’s goal, and Amad Diallo’s late free-kick under rainy conditions. The Elephants, led by Emerse Faé, topped Group F and will join the other qualified teams in the World Cup.
