The National Business and Technical Education Board (NABTEB) has warned senior officers against harassing and intimidating junior workers. Dr. Mohammed Aminu Mohammed, the Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of NABTEB, issued the warning during the 3rd Quarter Global Ministerial SERVICOM Committee meeting in Benin City. The meeting focused on bridging service delivery gaps in technical and vocational education, with an emphasis on enhancing standards, certification, and employability.
The committee was established to monitor the activities of NABTEB workers, ensuring that senior and junior officers perform their duties as expected. Dr. Mohammed emphasized the importance of maintaining good human relations in the workplace, advising staff to avoid using their positions to intimidate colleagues. He also encouraged workers not to fear speaking out against erring officers.
The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education, Mr. Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan, represented by Yiman Innocent, urged participants to share their expertise and experiences to drive meaningful change. He highlighted the importance of collective action, collaboration, and innovation in addressing complex challenges. The meeting provided an opportunity for reflection, assessment, and planning for the future, with a focus on enhancing public service delivery mechanisms.
The principles of SERVICOM, including transparency, accountability, professionalism, and integrity, were reaffirmed during the meeting. Participants were encouraged to remain committed to serving citizens with excellence and dignity, and to building a world where every individual can realize their full potential. The meeting showcased NABTEB’s institutional capacity and reinforced its role in advancing technical and vocational education and training in Nigeria.
The warning against harassment and intimidation of junior workers is significant, as it highlights the importance of maintaining a positive and respectful work environment. The meeting’s focus on enhancing service delivery gaps in technical and vocational education is also crucial, given the importance of these fields in driving economic growth and development. As NABTEB continues to work towards improving its services, the commitment to transparency, accountability, and professionalism will be essential in achieving its goals.
