The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, launched the President Bola Tinubu Support Group 2027 in Makurdi, Benue State. Represented by Senator Jacob Gyado, Akume said that President Tinubu has earned Nigerians’ confidence through people‑centric policies and projects. He expressed optimism that Benue and the North‑Central region would strongly back Tinubu’s re‑election bid in 2027 and stressed the importance of political experience and leadership, noting that the Tiv people deserve a seasoned leader. Akume also highlighted his own political record, citing the production of three consecutive governors and several senators.
Senator Titus Zam, speaking for Senate President Godswill Akpabio, praised Tinubu for appointing the first Secretary to the Government of the Federation from the North‑Central region, calling it evidence of the president’s inclusive leadership style. Zam pointed to the positive impact of Tinubu’s policies on education and governance, mentioning the Nigerian Education Loan Fund and the removal of fuel subsidies, which have enabled governors to access funds for project execution.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, represented by Dickson Tarkigir, urged Nigerian youths to embrace peaceful and progressive politics, highlighting President Tinubu’s affection for the people of Benue. Meanwhile, Chief Simon Shango, Chairman of the Benue APC Elders Council, voiced concern over the ongoing crisis within the state chapter of the party and called for change in 2027.
Mr. Mathias Byuan, convener of the support group, emphasized that Benue and the North‑Central region have solid reasons to support President Tinubu, citing his appointment of 24 Benue indigenes to key federal positions and ongoing infrastructure projects in the state. The launch of the support group underscores the growing momentum behind Tinubu’s potential re‑election bid. With the 2027 elections approaching, political alliances and support groups are likely to play a significant role in shaping Nigeria’s political landscape, and the evolving climate will determine how Tinubu’s support base influences his chances of re‑election.
