APC Women Leader Defects to NNPP with 100 Members

Residents were denied voting by heavily armed thugs hired by NNPP- APC alleges

A significant defection has occurred in Nigeria’s political landscape, as over 100 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Kibiya Local Government Area have joined the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP). The group, led by Hajiya Sabuwa Tarai, the APC Women Leader in the area, made the switch on Tuesday.

According to a statement released by the Kano Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, the defectors were formally received into the NNPP by Alhaji Adamu A. Kibiya, the state’s Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation. The decision to defect was reportedly driven by the group’s admiration for the development projects and initiatives implemented by Governor Yusuf’s administration.

Tarai expressed her group’s appreciation for the numerous projects executed by Governor Yusuf at both the local government and state levels. The commissioner, in turn, welcomed the new members to the NNPP, assuring them of equal treatment and encouraging them to unite and contribute to the party’s growth.

This development is significant, as it reflects the ongoing realignments within Nigeria’s political parties ahead of future elections. The NNPP, in particular, has been gaining momentum, with its focus on addressing the country’s humanitarian and poverty alleviation challenges resonating with many.

The defection of the APC members to the NNPP in Kibiya Local Government Area underscores the dynamic nature of Nigerian politics, where alliances and affiliations can shift in response to changing circumstances and policy initiatives. As the country navigates its political landscape, such movements are likely to continue, influencing the trajectory of its governance and development.

With this latest defection, the NNPP is poised to expand its support base in the region, potentially altering the political equation in forthcoming elections. The party’s commitment to addressing humanitarian and poverty concerns is likely to remain a key factor in attracting supporters from across the political spectrum.
