Nollywood Actor Beaten By Colleague On Movie Set

Nigerian actor Taye Arimoro has alleged that he was physically assaulted by his colleague, actress Peggy Ovie, and her crew members on the set of her movie. The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday night, when Arimoro attempted to leave the location after exceeding the agreed-upon filming time.

According to Arimoro, who shared a video of the incident on social media, he was beaten for trying to depart the set. The video shows visible injuries to his mouth and lips. Arimoro claims that his car tires were also deflated, allegedly to prevent him from leaving. He accused Peggy Ovie of instructing her driver to block his car.

In the video, Arimoro is heard stating that he was assaulted after expressing his desire to go home. He showed his injuries, saying, “I say I want to go home, they don’t want me to go home. Guys look at my mouth, because I said I want to go home. This woman and her people are doing the most.”

The incident has sparked concern about safety and professionalism on film sets in the Nigerian movie industry, known as Nollywood. The alleged assault has raised questions about the treatment of actors and crew members on set and the need for respect and adherence to agreed-upon filming schedules.

Arimoro’s allegations are a reminder of the importance of maintaining a safe and respectful work environment, particularly in the entertainment industry where tensions can run high. The incident is likely to prompt further discussion about the need for greater accountability and protection for actors and crew members on set.

The Nigerian film industry has experienced significant growth in recent years, with Nollywood producing a large number of films and gaining international recognition. However, incidents like this highlight the need for greater attention to be paid to the welfare and safety of those working in the industry. As the investigation into the alleged assault continues, it remains to be seen what actions will be taken to address the concerns raised by Arimoro and to prevent similar incidents in the future.
