APC Condemns PDP Call for Foreign Invasion Over Insecurity

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly condemned a call by Tanimu Turaki, the new factional chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for foreign powers to intervene in Nigeria’s internal affairs. Turaki made the call in response to the country’s security challenges, which he claimed were tantamount to “Christian genocide.”

Felix Morka, the APC’s National Publicity Secretary, described Turaki’s statement as “reckless and unpatriotic” and urged the international community to disregard it. Morka argued that Turaki’s call was a threat to Nigeria’s national security and sovereignty, and that it was a desperate attempt to distract from the PDP’s internal crisis.

The APC spokesman noted that Turaki’s faction of the PDP was deeply fractured and that his call for foreign intervention was a sign of the party’s inability to manage its internal contradictions. Morka recalled that during the PDP’s 16 years in power, the party never called for foreign intervention to resolve its internal crises.

The APC’s condemnation of Turaki’s statement comes amidst ongoing tensions within the PDP, which has been plagued by internal power struggles and factionalism. The party’s leadership crisis has raised concerns about its ability to provide a viable opposition to the ruling APC.

The international community has been urged to be cautious of the PDP’s call for foreign intervention, which could be seen as an attempt to undermine Nigeria’s sovereignty. The APC has assured Nigerians that it remains committed to addressing the country’s security challenges and promoting national unity.

In response to Turaki’s statement, the APC has called on Nigerians to stand firm in support of the government’s efforts to build progress and prosperity in all areas of national life. The party has also urged the international community to respect Nigeria’s sovereignty and to refrain from interfering in its internal affairs.

The development has significant implications for Nigeria’s political landscape, as it highlights the deepening divisions within the PDP and the ruling APC’s efforts to consolidate its power. As the country navigates its security challenges, it remains to be seen how the international community will respond to the PDP’s call for foreign intervention.
