Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ibadan North West Local Government Area of Oyo State have rejected the extension of acting chairman Mr. Olusola Tokunbo Adekanbi’s tenure. In an emergency meeting attended by hundreds of party members from the eleven electoral wards, they unanimously called for the immediate resignation of the acting chairman and his team so that the elected chairman, Jelili Asukuna, and other elected officials can assume their rightful positions.

The decision was driven by a desire to address the problems facing the party in the local government area. Party chieftain Mr. Adekunle Abass Akande, who moved the motion, emphasized that authentic executives must take over, noting that the current acting chairman and his team are not recognized by the party at the national level. Akande explained that members want to find solutions to the party’s challenges and benefit from them, but the present leadership is hindering progress.

Remi Ajanaku, a former leader of the Ibadan North West local government legislative arm, said the move was intended to restore sanity within the party. He stated that members have decided to ask the acting chairman to step aside and allow the authentic chairman to take over, thereby correcting the illegal activities occurring within the party.

The APC members’ call for the resignation of the acting chairman and his team marks a significant development in the party’s effort to resolve internal issues. The move is expected to pave the way for elected executives to assume their positions and work toward the party’s growth and success. With this decision, party members are taking a step toward resolving the problems facing the party in the local government area and ensuring that authentic leaders are at the helm. The development is being closely watched, and the next steps will be crucial in determining the party’s future in the region.
