Oyo State PDP Aspirant Seeks Assembly Support

Moving 2027 elections to 2026 dangerous - NNPP chieftain

A gubernatorial aspirant in Oyo State, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has appealed to members of the state House of Assembly for support in his bid to succeed Governor Seyi Makinde in 2027. Oguntoyinbo, who is running on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), made this request during a visit to the assembly members in Ibadan on Thursday.

The meeting was attended by key figures, including Deputy Speaker Muhammad Abiodun Fadeyi, Chief Whip Oyekola Gbenga Oyekola, and other assembly members. Also in attendance were PDP Chairman in Egbeda Local Government, Alawe Olawale, Egbeda Ward 8 Leader, Alhaji Lukman Akinpelu, and Councillor representing Ward 8, Hon. Teslim Raji.

This development comes after Oguntoyinbo declared his ambition to the PDP executives in the state earlier in the week. Notably, he was the gubernatorial candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Ogun State in 2023. Oguntoyinbo’s decision to seek support from the Oyo State House of Assembly is rooted in his claim that Oyo State is his origin, emphasizing the need to bring his humanitarian services to the state, just as he has done in Ogun State.

According to Oguntoyinbo, his ambition is a response to consistent calls from political elders and ancestral communities across the state, describing it as a divine assignment. He expressed that it is time to replicate his work in Ogun State in Oyo, highlighting the importance of acknowledging the legislature’s authority and influence in the governance of the state.

Oguntoyinbo stated, “I have come to this distinguished House out of respect. The legislature is a vital arm of government, and any sincere aspirant must acknowledge its authority, influence, and importance.” He emphasized his commitment to continuing the mandate of good governance in Oyo State, should he succeed Governor Makinde.

The aspirant’s declaration is seen as a significant step in the state’s political landscape, as he seeks to leverage his experience and connections to secure support for his gubernatorial bid. As the political landscape in Oyo State continues to unfold, Oguntoyinbo’s move is likely to generate interest and attention in the coming months.
