AFCON Morocco 2025 Diaspora Tour continues with Day 1 of a two-day stop in Paris

The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) trophy was unveiled to the public in Paris on Wednesday as part of the Diaspora Tour, which promotes next month’s tournament in Morocco. The event gathered prominent figures from African football, including former Ivory Coast defender and AFCON champion Yaya Touré. Touré praised the organization of the upcoming AFCON and identified Morocco, Senegal and Egypt as the main favorites to win.

The Paris stop of the Diaspora Tour gave African football personalities a platform to discuss the tournament. Senegal defender Moussa Niakhaté highlighted its significance, noting that the competition will serve as a preview of Morocco’s capabilities as a co‑host of the 2030 FIFA World Cup. He emphasized that the 2030 World Cup will be crucial for African football and culture, bringing international attention to the continent.

This will be the 35th edition of the biennial AFCON competition and the first to be scheduled over the Christmas and New Year period. Host nation Morocco will open the tournament against Comoros on 21 December at the newly completed Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat. The 69,500‑seat venue will also host the final on 18 January.

AFCON is a major event in African football, bringing together national teams from across the continent to compete for the championship title. As the tournament approaches, fans and players alike are eagerly anticipating matches that will showcase the best of African talent. The Diaspora Tour will continue in Paris on 4 December, further promoting the upcoming AFCON and generating excitement among supporters.
