Petrol price reduced to N920 per liter by NNPCL

Fuel price may drop to N800 per litre - Marketers

Nigerian Petroleum Company Limited has reduced the pump price of premium motor spirit for the second time in less than a week. The state-owned oil firm decreased its petrol price to N920 per liter, down from N930, representing a N10 per liter reduction. This adjustment was observed at NNPCL retail outlets in Abuja, including locations in Gwarimpa, Kubwa Expressway, and Wuse Zone 4.

The latest price reduction comes on the heels of a previous cut on November 28, 2025, when the company slashed its petrol price by 15 per liter. This move is seen as a response to competition among major players in the country’s downstream oil sector. The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria’s spokesperson, Chinedu Ukadike, noted that fuel prices are expected to continue dropping due to this competition.

The reduction in petrol prices is likely to have a positive impact on consumers, who have been bearing the brunt of high fuel costs. The Nigerian Petroleum Company Limited’s decision may also prompt other oil marketers to follow suit, leading to a decrease in fuel prices across the country. As the oil sector continues to evolve, it is essential for industry stakeholders to monitor the market and adjust their strategies accordingly.

The Nigerian oil industry has been experiencing significant changes in recent times, with efforts to increase transparency and efficiency. The reduction in petrol prices is a welcome development, and it remains to be seen how the industry will respond to this new trend. For now, consumers can expect to benefit from lower fuel costs, which may have a positive ripple effect on the economy. As the situation continues to unfold, it is crucial to keep a close eye on developments in the oil sector and their potential impact on the broader economy.
